DevOps practitioners, IT Revolution Press challenges you to DevOps a haiku. Share your creative writing chops and break the construct that says DevOps ideas are only shippable in prose. The prize for your creative endeavors? The fun of doing something nerdtastic! Plus, one lucky winner will receive their choice of three IT Revolution Press books.
All haikus must conform to a 3-line, 5/7/5 syllable format. All haikus must include some element, principle, or approach used in DevOps thinking and/or practices. You do NOT need to have a reference to nature, we’re disrupting that legacy practice.
Here is an example that conforms to this contest’s haiku requirements:
The three ways are real.
Please submit your haiku via twitter @ITRevBooks with the hashtag #DevOpsHaiku. Submissions are arbitrarily due by April 30th.
Evaluations of haikus will be based on the following empirical data points—syntax, diction, grammar, DevOps elements, compliance to the haiku form, and the wine-enhanced expertise of IT Revolution staff. The haiku with the best metrics based on the above data points will be announced May 7th.
The winner will get to choose three great IT Revolution Press books from the following list:
- The Phoenix Project, 5th Anniversary Edition
- Leading the Transformation
- The Art of Business Value
- The DevOps Handbook
- A Seat at the Table
- Making Work Visible
- DevOps for the Modern Enterprise
Format will be trade paperback. Shipping will be somewhat automated.
IT Revolution staff will not conduct post mortems on any haikus, though other @ITRevBooks twitter followers might decide to—IT Revolution encourages all post mortems to be blameless.
Unless otherwise requested, IT Revolution may publish contest haiku in a repository for reference and/or learning. The repository will be hosted by the IT Revolution blog at https://itrevolution.com/devops-blog/.
No IT Revolution staff or family of staff are eligible for any prizes (they all have the books anyways and enthusiastically publish IT DevOps leadership books, so the nerdtastic thing is a given).
We look forward to your submissions,
IT Revolution Press
