Featured Resource: Value Stream Architecture

By IT Revolution

Leading up to DevOps Enterprise Summit 2017 San Francisco, we’ll be releasing our most valuable DevOps resources to our community on a weekly basis.

Each of these resources come to you straight from the DevOps Enterprise Forum, where more than 50 technology leaders and thinkers gather for three days to create written guidance on the best-known methods for overcoming the top obstacles in the DevOps Enterprise community.

Organizations are constantly changing, whether the change is organic or dictated by management, the common goal of change is to deliver value. As organizations continually evolve and rely on cross-functional teams coming together and adopting DevOps practices, the process of delivering software products must also evolve.

In this paper, the authors show how value stream architecture helps facilitate organizational process change and transparency and should be the primary focus for every organization striving for DevOps greatness.

In this week’s resource we discuss:

  • Story  — In this first section, we will look a recent company merger, and discuss an initial set of tenets for the value stream architect in the organization.
  • The Value Stream Architect — Next we dive into the role of a value stream architect, and discuss several factors they must possess to help ensure success.
  • Value Stream Flow Metrics — Finally, we break down a consistent way of measuring value stream flow, by defining the units of flow.

The authors on each of these resources will be prominent figures in the industry, and on this particular one, we have four industry leaders working together. They include:

  • Mik Kersten, CEO, Tasktop Technologies
  • Nanda Kumar, Fellow, Verizon Enterprise Solutions
  • Daniele Romano, Global Continuous Delivery Product Owner, ING
  • Jason Zubrick, Director of Solution Architecture, GameStop

Here is an amazing presentation from an author on this week’s resource.

If you’re eager to continue learning about these topics and more, come see how you can be a part of DevOps Enterprise Summit 2017 San Francisco. We spend three days talking with the leaders of large, complex organizations implementing DevOps principles and practices, with the goal to give leaders (like you) the tools and practices they need to develop and deploy software faster and to win in the marketplace.
