The DevOps Enterprise Summit Community Banded Together for a #DOES17 CrowdChat!

DevOps Enterprise Summit 2017

What’s the most inspiring DevOps “win” you’ve experienced or have seen others experience? As DevOps Enterprise Summit London 2017 is fast approaching (who’s getting as excited as we are?!) and DevOps Enterprise Summit San Francisco 2017 planning is getting fully underway, we wanted to gather a group of people from this amazing community to have an online social media chat. Why? To pick the brains of those that live and breathe DevOps every single day and offer it up to the technology community at-large. What’s cool about hosting this social media discussion on CrowdChat is that after we’re finished with an hour full of interesting Q&A’s, the entire conversation lives on in transcript, timeline and/or top vote formats. It is so interesting to go back and see what topics drove the most engagement and perhaps more importantly, what insights we can take away and learn from moving forward.

During the chat, we covered everything from tools and metrics to culture and spirit animals. Our gracious co-hosts were Nicole Forsgren, Damon Edwards, Josh Atwell, Kaimar Karu, Chris Little, Carmen DeArdo, Jose Quaresma, John Davis, Sam Fell, Rene van der Zanden, Ben Grinnell, Kris Saxton and Peter Eeles. There were plenty more folks who joined as well and if you want to add your own two cents, go chime in directly in the CrowdChat platform! The conversation certainly does not end after the live discussion occurs!

Overall, it was a great discussion that reinforced the sense of community DevOps Enterprise Summit events provide, where practitioners and leaders of all levels are willing and eager to share their knowledge, feel comfortable asking questions and make it a point to meet new people. There are far too many great posts to highlight, but below, we’ve highlighted some of our favorite commentary thus far:

What single misperception about #DevOps you would like to change?

If DevOps was a sport, what would it be? Why?

Which non DevOps book would you recommend to a DevOps crowd?

What is your DevOps spirit animal and why?

What’s one thing you know now that you wish you had known when you started your #DevOps journey?

What’s the most inspiring DevOps “win” you’ve experienced or have seen others experience?

Did you hear that the Call for Presentations and Blind Bird tickets are now open for DevOps Enterprise Summit San Francisco? Learn more!

In summary, Gene also was keen to ask everyone what made this CrowdChat worth their time and their responses were both awesome to receive, and interesting to ponder for future CrowdChats, group discussions, event proceedings at DevOps Enterprise Summit, and more. It is fascinating to see how quickly a rapport with the group takes shape, and there’s no doubt that there are solid, meaningful relationships being created. If nothing else, this just makes us so happy!

We hope you join us for the next #DOES17 CrowdChat in the coming months. In the meantime, stay tuned for more updates and insights via the DevOps Enterprise Summit Twitter handles (@DOES-EUR and @DOES_USA) and our group community on LinkedIn.

Happy Chatting!
