Reflecting on an Incredible August Conference and Looking Ahead to ETLS Connect

By Gene Kim

We had an amazing conference in Las Vegas this August — I learned so much and met so many incredible people doing great things in large, complex organizations.

For nearly a decade, you’ve been asking for more opportunities to connect with this community between our annual events.

That’s why I’m thrilled to announce our first-ever ETLS Connect, which will take place on October 23, 2024. It will be a four-hour virtual event running from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. EDT.

We’ve designed this event to be packed with valuable learning and networking opportunities, so you can continue to engage with this amazing community year-round.

Ultimate GenAI Learning Day Follow-up Sessions

We have three follow-up sessions from Day 2, the Ultimate GenAI Learning Day, at ETLS Las Vegas this past August.

  • Idan Gazit, Senior Director of Research, GitHub Next | GitHub
  • Steve Yegge, Head of Engineering | Sourcegraph
  • Paige Bailey, GenAI Developer Relations Lead | Google

Experience Report Follow-up Sessions

Additionally, we have a couple of follow-up sessions from our experience reports:

  • Clare Hawthorne, Senior Director of Engineering & Product Operations | Oscar Health
  • Jason Yip, Senior Manager | Grainger

Industry Expert Sessions

We also have two presentations from industry experts:

  • Dr. Matt Beane, Author, The Skill Code

Dr. Beane will explore the decline of junior developers in software and how this may be part of a wider trend across many professions, which he refers to as the “novice optional” problem.

  • Dr. Joe Davis, Global Chief Economist | Vanguard

Dr. Davis will discuss the potential economic impacts of AI.

I look forward to seeing and learning with you there. In the meantime, check out the playlist we put together of the most recent presentations with these speakers!
