We’re thrilled to announce the release of The Phoenix Project: A Graphic Novel (Volume 1)—a visually stunning adaptation of the beloved IT management fable that has revolutionized how we think about DevOps and IT operations.
Originally published in 2013, The Phoenix Project quickly became a cornerstone text in the world of IT management and DevOps. Written by Gene Kim, Kevin Behr, and George Spafford, this business novel tells the story of Bill Palmer, an IT manager at the fictional company Parts Unlimited. Through Bill’s journey, readers learn about the principles of DevOps, the Theory of Constraints, and the Three Ways—fundamental concepts that have shaped modern IT practices.
The book’s impact on the IT industry has been profound, helping countless organizations transform their approach to software development and operations. Now, we’re bringing this transformative story to life through the power of art.
Volume 1 of The Phoenix Project: A Graphic Novel covers the first part of the original novel, immersing readers in the challenges and triumphs of Bill Palmer and his team at Parts Unlimited. This adaptation makes the core concepts of DevOps even more accessible, allowing readers to engage with the story’s key ideas visually.
We’re honored to have Mike Collins as the illustrator for this graphic novel. With a career spanning 40 years in comics, Mike brings a wealth of experience to this project. His impressive portfolio includes work on major characters like X-Men, Batman, Spider-Man, and Doctor Who. Mike’s versatility as an artist, from comics to storyboarding for popular TV shows, ensures that The Phoenix Project is brought to life with skill and imagination.
Interestingly, Mike’s connection to the IT world extends beyond this project. His wife, Bernadette Vella, has been an IT manager at several major international financial institutions for decades and has long used The Phoenix Project in her work strategies. This personal connection adds an extra layer of understanding to Mike’s visualization of the story.
This release is just the beginning. We’re excited to announce that Volumes 2 and 3 are already in production and scheduled for release next year. These upcoming installments will complete the graphic novel adaptation of The Phoenix Project, offering readers the full story in this engaging new format.
Whether you’re a long-time fan of The Phoenix Project or new to the world of DevOps, this graphic novel offers a fresh and exciting way to engage with these important concepts. Pick up your copy of Volume 1 today and prepare to see the world of IT operations in a whole new light.
Join us in celebrating this new chapter in The Phoenix Project saga. We can’t wait to hear what you think of this innovative adaptation!
