Updates on DevOps Enterprise Summit London

By IT Revolution

Get practical advice from fellow technology leaders

We’re just a little less than 7 weeks away from the inaugural DevOps Enterprise Summit London (#DOES16), and I have some exciting updates on the conference speakers and what you will gain in exchange for two days spent with fellow leaders in enterprise organizations.

If you can’t make it to London in June, please join us for the third year of DevOps Enterprise Summit San Francisco

DevOps Enterprise Summit

By now we know that a successful DevOps transformation requires three basic components: cultural shifts, modern tools and technology, and an architecture to support change. I’ve spent the past 5 years conducting and analyzing research that proves this again and again. We know the hallmarks of a successful DevOps transformation:

  • Fast flow
  • Frequent deployments
  • Increased Reliability
  • Enhanced Security

But how do we get from here to there?

DevOps Enterprise Summit

We know what high performers look like. The Google, Netflix, Amazon, and Etsy stories are indeed inspiring, but what if you could hear how DevOps is being used in large, complex organizations that have been around for decades or even centuries? Would you want to know how DevOps enables these organizations to deploy new features or security patches 200x faster than their competitors?

I love to hear about our speakers’ heroic struggles and their equally astonishing outcomes: turning their first win into more, accelerating learning throughout the organization, being promoted (even multiple times), and generally creating immense value for their businesses.

What if you could hear stories of brave technology leaders who dared to take on decades of habits and layers of bureaucracy, who risked their professional well being and followed their convictions toward a better way?

Here’s a sneak peek of just a few of the presentations you’ll hear at this year’s DevOps Enterprise Summit London.

Ron Van KemenadeSince 2011, many of us in the DevOps community has watched in amazement as ING transformed into a world-class technology organization. We are honored that ING CIO Ron Van Kemenade will share the story of how this transformation occurred, his lessons learned, and his perspectives on the role of technology leadership and the CIO role.

Chris Jackson

Pearson is a publishing company that has been around for more than a century, with the mission of helping one million learners around the world. In addition to software delivery and services, they have the added challenge of protecting sensitive student information. Jackson has overseen the process of building internal platforms so any team can deploy internally with the same practices you would see at Google or Netflix.

Lee SextonThomas Cook Retail is valued at more than £17 billion, with approximately 35,000 employees. They continue to operate hundreds of retail stores, and have had to develop a world-class e-commerce platform. Sexton will discuss the transformation this required and his lessons learned.

Scott PotterFounded in the 1700s, News UK has a long and storied history. Part of competing in the digital age was modernizing their internal platforms, as well as a high profile  iPad application launch, much like as we saw with the New York Times. We will hear about the adapting a legacy news organization to a modern digital platform designed for the way we access news today.

Jonathan FletcherHiscox a multi-billion £ insurance agency, with many new international market segments that are growing at a rate of 30 percent per year, which have a high reliance on e-commerce capabilities. Fletcher describes the internal transformation required for the Hiscox technology organization to keep up with the organizational needs.

In short, I have never learned as much as I did at any of the past two DevOps Enterprise Summits.  Our presenters shared some of the most courageous and exciting transformation stories I had ever seen, I expect the same high level of learning, sharing, and forging connections at our London event. I truly believe that there is no more valuable way to spend two days of your time. I look forward to seeing you there! —Gene Kim
