Tim Johnson Nov 4, 2020 10:27 pmOne aspect of "classic" labor - that which is done by hand by a specialist - is counter-intuitively growing in value and demand. That is classical trades like electrician, plumber, HVAC, etc. You can't AI/ML the failure of a water heater nor can you automate replacing it and the dry wall it damaged when it died. I had a problem in my garage and tracked it down to a faulty breaker in my main panel I thought). No problem, quick trip to Ace Hardware, 20 minute without power while I replaced it - that wasn't it. Called the electrician. It was a faulty GFCI. When I told him I did the breaker he offered me a job on the spot. Then offered it to my son and told him he could be running his own business in five years and have as much work as he wanted. I'm sure there are other labor jobs that will also grow in demand and value as the population of skilled workers in that areas declines or disappears. And software won't help for many decades. Reply
