How Google SRE and Developers Work Together (US 2021)

I love this talk because we hear from two leaders at Google on how Dev and SRE work together, both in the ideal and not ideal. They talk about SRE funding models, engagement models, what it looks like when things are going well, and when things are not going well, what they do to try to put things back on track. And you’ll hear hints on what it’s like to run customer-facing properties at Google: (e.g., “you never truly understand a system until you see it burst into flames [in production].”)

Iterative Enterprise SRE Transformation (US 2021)

This is the best talk on next-generation infrastructure and operations I’ve ever seen—you’ll learn how Vanguard, creator of the world’s first index fund, who currently has over $8 trillion assets under management and over 7,000 developers, has modernized a vast technology landscape built up over fifty years, and how they’ve introduced chaos engineering and SRE skills into critical business areas.”

From 6-Eye Principle to Release at Scale – adidas Digital Tech 2021 (Europe 2021)

Successfully adapted to the global pandemic, the stakes for their e-commerce property kept growing. Out of necessity, a series of problems lead to production deployments lead to a situation where three VPs must approve production changes, which lead to even larger problems. This is an amazing story of how a massive investment in SRE and platform engineering created a way out.
